The Beacon represents the ambitions of a developer/builder to attract millennials to downtown Cleveland, with shared amenity spaces and a contemporary address. Set upon an existing concrete parking structure, the addition’s verticality is accentuated by a varied gradient of an insulated metal panel exterior inspired by the neighborhood masonry palette. The apartment level floor plans are regular and narrow to minimize eccentric loading on the existing base.
Shifting the position of window and solid wall helps distance this tower from the typical storefront high-rise such that the building appears clad with shingles. Apartment types vary. Level 21 includes deluxe units with spacious skyline terraces.
An exterior band of LED at the edge of the terrace rail produces a dramatic ‘lighthouse’ effect, rendering The Beacon an icon of the Cleveland skyline.
